Finance Manager

Curioso is searching for a business-savvy FINANCE MANAGER with a desire to positively impact our company’s financial performance and future. As a key member of the Curioso team, the Finance Manager will be responsible for day-to-day project accounting operations and analysis, ensuring that our financial strategies align with our business objectives. The individual will also assist with budget processes in close partnership with our Head of Operations, leadership team, and department heads.

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will foster and contribute to our People, our Projects, and our studio in these ways: 

Project Accounting / Revenue Management:

  • Monitor and track monthly revenue streams across all projects.

  • Create and issue monthly project invoices.

  • Manage company accounts receivable and follow up on past-due invoices. 

Financial Performance Analysis:

  • Drive the financial performance of the studio through astute financial tracking and analysis.

  • Work with the Studio Orchestrator to align team resources against monthly project billing.

  • Provide comprehensive reports on project performance to studio leadership.

Studio Accounting:

  • Day-to-day management and bookkeeping of operational expenses through Xero.

  • Oversee and process employee expense reports.

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly state and federal tax payments 

Payroll Management:

  • Process bi-monthly payroll using Gusto.

  • Manage monthly 401K contributions.

  • Manage state-by-state employment tax administration

Financial / Budget Management

  • Manage a collaborative budgeting process.

  • Understanding how financial results tie into company goals. 

To excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following qualifications:

  • Prior accounting experience at a design company or professional services firm.

  • Experience in tracking projects, including invoicing, tracking costs, and analyzing profitability.

  • Proficiency in using Google Workspace, Excel, Xero, CMA,P or similar online accounting software.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-location team.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong organizational skills. 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Professional Working Proficiency in English & Spanish
