Designer (Mérida)

We're looking for an experienced Designer to join our Mérida studio.
Position Overview
The Designer will work directly with our design studio team, contributing to every stage of the design process—from initial concepts to construction administration, team management, and design implementation. You will be responsible for crafting compelling visual presentations, articulating Curioso’s vision, and designing a project through all project phases, which includes client interactions and consultant coordination.
Responsibilities
Contribute to conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
Convey a compelling story/narrative to the internal team and external stakeholders on projects
Work collaboratively with project teams through sketching/modeling design solutions, preparing drawings, editing presentations, sourcing materials, finishes, FF&E, producing construction drawings and specifications
Represent Curioso and the design for all consult coordination meetings
Manage and streamline the design process for team members in both Chicago and Mérida to drive projects toward implementation
Candidate Requirements
4-5 years of interior design or interior architecture experience, hospitality-focused preferred, including experience in all phases of design and construction (Concept, SD, DD, CD, and Construction Administration)
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup/Enscape, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite (INDD, PSD), Microsoft/Google office
Strong conceptual and design skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills
Proficient hand-sketching abilities
Experience in developing thoughtful material palettes and FF&E selections that are in line with project budgets, meet brand standards, and meet lead times.

Accredited Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
Fluent in English and Spanish

3D Max and/or Lumion
SpecSources, Designspec or similar FFE specification programs
Sketches, Concepts, Procreate or Morphofolio trace (tablet apps)
Autodesk Construction Cloud
Not Required but beneficial: NCIDQ Certification, state licensure and LEED Accreditation
Location: Must be located in Merida, Yucatán, Mexico, or willing to relocate.
