We are a dynamic multi-cultural design studio with locations in Chicago, IL, and Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. The Design Internship position will be located in our Chicago studio on a hybrid schedule.
Design Internship (Chicago)
Position Overview:
The Design Intern will be an important part of our integrated design process and will engage in a well-rounded, seasonal role that provides exposure to all elements of the interior design process. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to progressively hold more responsibility for assignments for a variety of design projects.
Potential Responsibilities & Opportunities:
Project Work & Project Team Support
Actively listen to project calls/meeting and presentations
Assist with Adobe CC files for design presentations (post-production work, labeling, image spacing and final touches)
Assist with gathering material palettes, labeling physical samples
Assist with in-studio presentation set up for client meetings
Interior Design & Architecture: Construction Documents & Technology
Assist with Revit/AutoCAD construction documentation/redlines
Modeling of custom millwork and casegoods in Revit and/or sketchup for CDs and FFE Specs
Assist with maintaining Curioso’s digital libraries of models/families for Revit/Sketchup
Build and test technical templates and tools to assist in design processes
Work alongside design leads on detailing/drafting construction details
Vendor Communications + FFE
Assist with vendor coordination and communication (ordering samples, product questions/inquiries)
Assist with material library maintenance and organization (requires in-studio time)
Research and explore new vendors/new products relevant to projects
Work alongside design leads on detailing/drafting custom FFE pieces
Assist with FFE spec writing through shell specs and compose simple furniture specifications
Qualifications:
Motivation and desire to work on challenging projects in a creative work environment
Strengths in conceptual design, narrative/storytelling, and communication skills are desired
Technical excellence and understanding of construction documentation composition are desired
A degree from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program is encouraged
Proficiency in Revit is a required
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketchup is encouraged
Knowledge of rendering software like Enscape or Lumion is encouraged
