Business Cultivation Designer
Curioso is a premium hospitality interior design and brand strategy studio with offices in Chicago and Mérida. Named Hospitality Design's Design Firm of the Year 2026, the studio works across luxury hotels, destination resorts, branded residences, and mixed-use developments throughout North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Our proposals, pitch materials, and case studies are not afterthoughts; they are a direct expression of how we think and what we believe design can do. The way we present ourselves is part of the story we tell.
We’re looking for a Business Cultivation Designer to join our studio in Mérida, Yuc. (MX).
Position Overview
We are looking for a Business Cultivation Designer who is both a skilled visual communicator and a systems thinker - someone who can produce proposal documents and pitch collateral that genuinely reflect Curioso's design intelligence, and who can build the infrastructure that makes our BD function faster, more consistent, and easier to manage. This role sits at the center of the business development process. You are the person who turns a pursuit strategy into a beautiful, precise document. You own the case study library, the proposal templates, and the tools that keep everything current and accessible. You are not purely a production resource, you bring your own editorial instincts and design sensibility to every piece you build. You will also engage directly with early-stage project vision work on select pursuits - contributing to narrative development, concept framing, and visual direction when a proposal requires it.
Responsibilities
Production
Own the design and production of all proposal documents, vision decks, and RFP responses, from structure through final output
Work from pursuit strategy provided by the Director of Business Cultivation and Managing Partner, and translate it into a cohesive, visually precise document that reflects Curioso's standards
Own the editorial judgment on format, length, and visual hierarchy within each proposal, knowing when restraint is the right call
Manage timelines and deliverables across concurrent proposals without losing quality
Collateral & Case Studies
Create an maintain a current, well-organized case study library, narrative copy, scope summaries, all ready to be deployed in any proposal context
Work with our Marketing team to develop and maintain core collateral: studio overview, team bios, project one-pagers, capability statements, and any materials used in first-contact outreach
Coordinate with the design team and marketing to keep project documentation current as work completes and opens
Tools & Systems
Own and continuously improve the tools that support business cultivation: CRM setup and hygiene, proposal template library, asset management, tracking dashboards
Build systems that make the BD function faster and less dependent on independent knowledge. Build templates that work, folder structures that hold, naming conventions that stick – Identify gaps in the BD toolkit and propose solutions. You are expected to take initiative here, not wait to be asked.
Early-stage Vision Support
On select pursuits, contribute to visual direction and presentation strategy during the proposal development phase
Work alongside the Managing Partner and creative leadership to develop vision decks that go beyond capabilities - documents that demonstrate how Curioso would think about a specific project
This is a meaningful part of the role, not an occasional add-on. The right candidate is energized by the intersection of design thinking and business strategy.
Requirements
3–7 years of experience in design, communications, or marketing roles within architecture, interior design, or a related creative field, ideally with exposure to hospitality
A portfolio that demonstrates real design sensibility: proposals, decks, editorial layouts, or brand materials that feel considered, not templated
Strong command of InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent layout tools, and an instinct for typography, hierarchy, and visual restraint
Experience building or managing content systems: asset libraries, CRM platforms, template frameworks
A writer, or at least someone who can edit copy clearly and knows when a sentence is doing too much work
Detail-oriented without being slow: you can hold quality and pace at the same time – Genuinely excited about the hospitality and design space. You’re passionate about design and visual communications, you notice good work, you have opinions about it.
Fluent in English and Spanish
What This is Not
This is not a pure graphic production role. If your instinct is to make things look polished without understanding what they're saying, this will be a frustrating fit. We need someone who engages with the content, who pushes back on a proposal narrative that isn't working, and who brings their own point of view to what a document should do. Equally, this is not a path into the design studio through a side door. The BD Designer role is its own discipline, and we want someone who values it as such, who sees the intelligence in a well-crafted proposal as clearly as the intelligence in a well-designed room.
Compensation & Structure
Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Benefits included.
